She has hired a naturopath and nutritionist to ensure that she can compliment her training and gym work in the best way. She focuses on eating a lot of and veggies. Tessa Virtue Facts

  1. As a young girl, she excelled in ballet. But at the age of 9, she decided to reject an offer to join the National Ballet School as she solely wanted to focus on ice skating.
  2. In 2003, she moved to Canton, Michigan to start training under the guidance of Igor Shpilband and Marina Zueva. She eventually moved back to her hometown in 2014 after the Olympics event.
  3. In 1997, she started skating with Scott Moir. They were paired by his aunt, Carol Moir, who was their coach at that time.
  4. In 2008, she and Moir had to withdraw from Grand Prix events after she was diagnosed with chronic exertional compartment syndrome. In October 2008, she had to undergo surgery to take care of her condition.
  5. Tessa and Scott achieved the distinction of becoming the first Canadian ice dancers to win the World Junior Championships in 2006.
  6. In 2008, she and Scott won their first Canadian national title, which helped them earn a spot at the Four Continents. At the subsequent Four Continents events, they managed to win the gold medal.
  7. In October 2015, she launched her exclusive range of jewelry in collaboration with Hillberg & Berk.
  8. She and Scott hold the distinction of being the first team to have won an Olympic gold medal in dance category at their debut event. They were also the first team from North America to win an Olympic gold medal.
  9. In October 2010, she and Scott published their book . They had hired Steve Milton to co-write the book.
  10. In December 2017, she and Scott were recognized as the Canadian Olympic athletes of the year by Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
