Paddy Considine is an English actor, writer, musician, and film director who is well-known for portraying dark, tormented, and morally ambiguous characters. He was cast in several short films by Shane Meadows, whom he had befriended at college. Shane also gave Paddy his feature film debut, A Room for Romeo Brass (1999), where he played the mentally disturbed character of Morell. His debut performance impressed noted director Pawel Pawlikowski, who cast him in the lead role of Alfie in Last Resort (2000). After coming into the spotlight with his first 2 movies, Paddy played various supporting and starring roles such as Richard in Dead Man’s Shoes (2004), Phil in My Summer of Love (2004), and Frank Thorogood in Stoned (2005). For his role in Stoned, Paddy started to get the tag of an actor skilled in portraying villains and dark characters.
In 2007, Paddy wrote and directed a short film titled Dog Altogether, loosely based on his Irish father. The short film won several international awards. In 2011, Paddy expanded that short film into a full-length feature titled Tyrannosaur featuring the same actors in lead roles. The film became a big hit at film festivals, winning more than 15 awards across the globe. He undertook several TV and film projects in the next few years including Honour (2014), Macbeth (2015), and Peaky Blinders (2016). In 2017, he wrote, directed and starred in the film Journeyman. In April 2017, Paddy made his theatre debut in The Ferryman at the Royal Court Theatre. Apart from his flourishing film and TV career, Paddy is also a busy musician. He is a member of the rock band Riding the Low, who released an EP in 2009 titled They Will Rob You of Your Gifts. Their maiden album titled What Happened to the Get to Know Ya? was released in 2013. Their 2nd full-length album came out in 2016 titled Are Here to Help the Neighbourhood.
