Maja Salvador Facts

1. For her role as Joya in the 2006 film Sukob, Maja won the “Breakthrough Performance by an Actress” award at the Golden Screen Awards and the “New Movie Actress of the Year” award at the Star Awards.
2. In 2011, Maja played the titular role in the film Thelma, for which she won the “Best Actress” award at both the Gawad Urian Awards and the Film Academy of the Philippines Awards.
3. She is also an animal rights activist and partnered with PETA in 2013 to give impetus to the “Free Mali” campaign. Mali was the only captive elephant in the Philippines and the campaign’s objective was to have the elephant transferred from the Manila Zoo to the Boon Lott’s Elephant Sanctuary where she could receive better treatment and care than at the zoo.
4. In 2017, she was ranked at number 15 in the list of “FHM Philippines 100 Sexiest Women”.
