1. She was born at the Clinica Regina Margherita in Rome.
2. Loren’s parents did not tie the knot as a result of which her mother had to raise 2 daughters single-handedly with no proper financial support.
3. Sophia spent most of her younger days growing up at her grandmother’s house in Pozzuoli.
4. She had only met her father 3 times at the ages of 5, 17, and at his deathbed in 1976.
5. Sophia had witnessed the horrors of the “Second World War” first hand. During one such bombing raid at Pozzuoli, she was struck by a fragment in the chin while trying to run to safety to a shelter. After the incident, the family moved to Naples and returned after the war had ended.
