Ari Lennox is an American singer and songwriter who first made a foray in the music industry with her 2012 mixtape Five Finger Discount and the 2013 EP Ariography. She came into the spotlight, however, when she released her 2nd EP called Pho in October 2016 which peaked at number 20 on the US R&B charts. Her debut studio album titled Shea Butter Baby was launched in May 2019 and it cemented her status as a rising star as it peaked at number 7 on the US R&B charts. She followed it up in March 2020 with her 3rd EP titled Shea Butter Baby (Remix EP). She has also released the compilation albums Revenge of the Dreamers II (2015) and Revenge of the Dreamers III (2019). The former had reached number 3 on the US Rap charts and the latter had peaked at number 1 on the US, the US R&B/HipHop, and the US Rap charts and was certified ‘Platinum’ by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America). In 2019, she embarked on her first headlining tour across the United States which was titled the Shea Butter Baby Tour.

Ari Lennox Facts

1. Her stage name, Ari Lennox, was taken from the character of Mary Lennox, from the 1993 fantasy drama film The Secret Garden.
2. When she was signed up by Dreamville Records in December 2015, she became the first female artist to be contracted by the record label.
3. Her 2018 track titled Shea Butter Baby, which was performed in collaboration with rapper  was included in the soundtrack of the blockbuster 2018 sports drama film Creed II. The track was released as a single in February 2019 and its music video went viral, crossing the mark of 3 million views on YouTube within the first week of its release.
