Álex Palou Facts

1. Like most professional drivers, Álex too had started his career with kart racing. He started competitive kart racing in 2003, at the age of just 6. His best karting performance came in 2012 when he won the WSK Euro Series title. He had also won the Spanish Karting Championship in the KF3 class in both 2011 and 2012 and the KZ2 class in 2013.
2. His open-wheel racing debut came at the 2014 Euroformula Open Championship and he impressed immediately with a 3rd-place finish. He had lost out on 2nd place by just one point to Artur Janosz.
3. When he won the sprint race at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi in 2015, the very last race of the season, he became the first Spanish driver to ever win a race at the GP3 level. He won with a massive 4.4-second margin over 2nd-placed Antonio Fuoco. It was his debut season at that level.
4. Although he finished 3rd in the 2019 Japanese Super Formula Championship, he was the best rookie in the field and was awarded the rookie championship title.
5. He is fluent in Spanish, English, and Italian.
6. He owns a coffee shop in the city of Gerona in Spain.
