Josh Jacobs is an American professional football player who has played as a running back for the Las Vegas Raiders in the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the team in the very first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, and his stellar performances in his debut season had earned him a place in the year’s ‘PFWA All-Rookie Team’, an honorary team annually picked by the sportswriters of the Pro Football Writers Association (PFWA) to recognize that season’s most outstanding young talent. Before joining the NFL, he had played college football for Alabama Crimson Tide, representing The University of Alabama. With the team, he had won the College Football Playoff National Championship (CFPNC) in 2017 and the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Championship in both 2016 and 2018. In the latter year, he had been named the ‘MVP’ (Most Valuable Player) in the SEC Championship Game after rushing for 83 yards with 2 touchdowns.

Josh Jacobs Facts
- He had endured a rough childhood, emotionally and financially. His parents got divorced when he was 8 years old and he had moved in with his father into a tiny room, due to financial constraints, while his siblings started staying with his mother.
- There was also a time in middle school when he was homeless and would live with his father in a car. His father eventually gained custody of all his children and they had moved into a small, 2-bedroom apartment. In January 2020, to acknowledge his father’s sacrifices, he had gifted him a new house in Oklahoma.
- In his sophomore year in college, 2017, he had recorded 284 yards on 46 carries with 1 touchdown. It was only after the season had ended that it was revealed that Josh had been playing on with a broken ankle for most of the season.
- At the end of the 2019 NFL season, his rookie season in the premier competition, his childhood experiences, and homelessness were featured as part of a commercial, for Kia Motors Corporation, which was aired during the Super Bowl LIV.
- After just the first 8 games of that season, he had set the Las Vegas Raiders‘ record for ‘Most Rushing Yards in a Rookie Season’ with 740 yards; eclipsing the previous record of 697 yards that was set by Marcus Allen in 1982.
