Pagani’s life was turned around when he was employed by Renault to upgrade the body of a race car. Pagani was able to demonstrate his talent in his work, which resulted in significant changes. Pagani visited Lamborghini and met with Giulio Alfieri, the company’s chief technical officer, after finding success on a small scale. He relocated to Italy in 1982 and was employed by Lamborghini. Late in 1987, Pagani borrowed money to purchase his own autoclave, and in 1991, he left the company to start his own firm, Modena Design, which continues to produce carbon fiber composites for Formula One cars and clients such as Daimler, Ferrari, and Aprilia. Pagani Automobili Modena was founded in 1992 by Pagani. The Zonda was his first car, and it took him seven years to finish. The Huayra is his second vehicle. It was named after Huayra Tata, the Incan god of the wind.

The Argentine made his dream of joining the small club of the greatest builders of the Italian Motorvalley, the one that follows the via Emilia and involves others like; Ferrari, Ducati, Maserati, Dallara, and, of course, Lamborghini.
