On November 5, 2011, Scherr won the NAS US Amateur National Championships, earning his ASC pro strongman card. On March 4, 2012, Scherr won the 2012 Arnold Amateur Strongman World Championships, which were held in combination with the 2012 Arnold Strongman Classic at the Arnold Sports Festival. Adam was welcomed to the 2013 Arnold Strongman Classic as a result of his win. On July 8, 2012, Scherr played in the SCL North American Championships, placing 5th overall.
