The thriller Summer Camp Nightmare was one of Reeves’ early cinematic roles in 1987. From 1984 to 1985, she starred as Jade Perkins in the television show Santa Barbara. She first played the adult Jennifer Horton (later Jennifer Deveraux) on Days of Our Lives in 1985, replacing a young actress who had played the character as a kid. She stayed in the role until 1995.

Days of Our Lives’ producers Corday Productions and Sony TV Entertainment sued Reeves for breach of contract when she unexpectedly quit the program during its thirty-fifth season. Reeves paid an undisclosed fee, which Days Executive Producer Ken Corday contributed to paediatric AIDS research, and the case was resolved out of court.

Jennifer’s part was immediately filled by actress Stephanie Cameron, who stayed on the program until 1998.
