Professional Career

In 1989, the Indianapolis Colts selected Rison in the first round of the NFL draft (he was the 22nd overall pick). He caught 52 passes for 820 yards and four touchdowns in his rookie NFL season with the Indianapolis Colts. He was traded to the Atlanta Falcons after only a year with the Indianapolis Colts. He would play for the Falcons for five seasons, and he would be very effective during that period. With 15 receiving touchdowns in 1993, he ranked first among all NFL teams. He is just the fifth wide receiver in NFL history to score 60 touchdowns in his first six seasons.

After the 1994 NFL season, Rison signed a lucrative free agent contract with the Cleveland Browns. With 47 catches, 701 yards, and three touchdowns, and an average of 2.9 receptions per game, he set a new career low. After that, he spent the offseason with the Jacksonville Jaguars before joining the Green Bay Packers in 1996.
