  1. He was nicknamed ‘Brain’ by the members of his high school concert band because Bryan Mantia used to obsessively study of the drum book Portraits in Rhythm.
  2. Growing up, he used to listen to music by artists like James Brown, Led Zeppelin, and . This helped shape his musical interests and influenced him to pursue a career in the art form.
  3. He started playing the drums when he was around 16 years old.
  4. While studying at the Musicians Institute, Bryan Mantia became a member of the local funk-rock band named the Limbomaniacs (which would later become a part of the electronic band, Ben Wa).
  5. He joined the funk metal band, Primus, in 1989 but was forced to pull out of the band due to a foot injury.
  6. Bryan Mantia rejoined Primus in 1996 and worked on its albums and extended plays like Brown Album, Rhinoplasty, and Antipop.
  7. The 5th studio album, Brown Album, by Primus was released on July 8, 1997, and it comprised of songs such as Shake Hands with Beef, Duchess and the Proverbial Mind Spread, and The Chastising of Renegade. The album was also placed at number #21 in the Billboard 200 chart.
  8. He has been friends with the multi-instrumental musician, Buckethead, and the two were also members of the experimental rock project, Praxis, alongside Bill Laswell, Bernie Worrell, and Bootsy Collins.
  9. As a member of Praxis, Bryan Mantia worked on albums like Transmutation, Sacrifist, and Metatron.
  10. Transmutation was the first album released by Praxis in 1992 and it included tracks like Animal Behavior, Seven Laws of Woo, and Dead Man Walking.
  11. He also worked alongside Buckethead on his solo pursuits that included albums such as Monsters and Robots, Colma, The Cuckoo Clocks of Hell, and Bucketheadland 2.
  12. It was Buckethead who recommended him to of Guns N’ Roses and Bryan Mantia eventually joined the influential group in March 2000.
  13. His work with Guns N’ Roses includes their 6th studio album, Chinese Democracy, which was released on November 23, 2008, by Black Frog and Geffen Records.
