1. He was a part of a fierce custody battle between his mom and dad. When they divorced in 2001, she accused him of being drunk and physically abusing her in front of Charlie and his older brother Gulliver. Due to lack of evidence, his dad was never charged, and the roles reversed after the court gave him the full custody of both of his sons after it was discovered that Donya, his mom, in fact, abused the boys.
2. His mom also tried to ruin his dad’s reputation after he won an Academy Award for the movie Darkest Hour (2017), during the #MeToo movement.
