Chris Wolstenholme Height, Weight, Age, Body Statistics

Chris Wolstenholme is an English bass guitarist and backing vocalist for the award-winning rock band Muse. With their distinctive musical style and dramatic live performances, the trio (with lead singer Matt Bellamy and drummer Dominic Howard) are considered one of the best live acts. The band is also well-known for their heavy use of electronic instruments and Wolstenholme often uses touch-screen controllers, which are built into his instruments, to create some of the complicated guitar pieces. Chris turned songwriter for the band’s album The 2nd Law in which he spoke about his past experience with alcoholism. He has, however, been clean since his early 30s and is happily married to Caris Ball since 2018.

Chris Wolstenholme Facts

  1. He met bandmates Matt Bellamy and Dominic Howard in Teignmouth, Devon where he grew up. The band was earlier called Rocket Baby Dolls but later changed it to Muse in 1994.
  2. He initially played with the post-punk band Fixed Penalty as a drummer. But on the insistence of Matt and Dominic, he took up bass lessons and joined them as the band’s bassist.
  3. Chris has all of his children’s names tattooed on his body. Firstly, he got his oldest son Alfie’s name tattooed in Japanese. Daughter Ava-Jo’s name is inked on his left arm, and Frankie is written on his back in Japanese characters. On his forearms, in Arabic letters, is Ernie’s name. He tattooed Buster’s name alongside a baby with boxing gloves. Lastly, he honored his youngest child Teddi by tattooing her name with a bird.
  4. Moreover, he had inked his ex-wife Kelly’s name on his forearms, along with Ernie’s name, in September 2009. But, he covered up the tattoo after their divorce in 2016.
  5. He is a huge football fan and supports his hometown club, Rotherham United, which is also known as The Millers.
  6. Chris has 2 pet dogs – Kevin and Rufio. Additionally, he also owns a pet lizard named Ronson.
  7. He became the unofficial third member of the rock band Moriaty in 2014. He played bass on their single Bones, which was released in 2015.
  8. Chris had revealed in an interview with The Times in 2010 that he had a prolonged drinking problem. In the article, he described himself as a raging alcoholic and had mentioned that his situation got so extreme that he would vomit blood often. It was only after his band members gave him an ultimatum that he checked himself into rehab. At the time, the band was in the middle of recording their fifth album, The Resistance.
  9. One of his prime motivations to get sober was also that his father, who was an alcoholic, had passed away due to excessive drinking at the age of 40. Not wanting to repeat his father’s history, Chris decided to get help.
  10. He contributed 2 songs, Save Me and Liquid State on his band’s next album The 2nd Law (2012). He took inspiration from his personal experiences with alcoholism to write these songs.
  11. Chris grew up admiring the 60s rock band Status Quo. Once, when he was young, he got the opportunity to stand in on one of their sound checks.
  12. Sadly, his idol Rick Parfitt, the guitarist of Status Quo, passed away in 2016 while working on his debut solo album Over and Out. Chris stepped in to complete the bass and double-track of rhythm guitar on the song Long Distance Love from the album, which was released posthumously in 2018.
  13. On September 25, 2008, Chris and other members of Muse received an Honorary Doctorate of Arts from the University of Plymouth for their decades-long contribution to music.
