Corl Facts
- He had been a good friend of Denis, one of the members of The Pals since he was 12 years old. He had even moved in and lived with Denis and Alex, another member of the group until Alex’s relocation to England. His online persona, Corl, had also emanated from a Minecraft joke with Denis.
- Before he had created his YouTube account in March 2016, he had often been featured on popular animator SubZeroExtabyte’s YouTube channel. The fact that he was already a known face had helped him reach 200k subscribers within 6 months of the launch of his channel.
- In February 2019, he had become involved in a social media tiff with a fan and had argued that videos of kids doing gymnastics were being enjoyed inappropriately by the ‘wrong’ kind of audience and that YouTube should have better protection for minors. This statement upset the fan who felt Corl was interfering in her personal choice of what videos to watch and she had unsubscribed from The Pals having been a huge fan of the group before this.
- Corl further engaged with that fan and the feud snowballed into a major controversy when Corl’s fans attacked her online. The fan then revealed that the incident had affected her so much that she had attempted to commit suicide and had been put on suicide watch by her councilor. The seriousness of the incident forced The Pals to remove Corl from their team.
- After being removed from the group, he had put out a series of tweets thanking his fans for their love and support over the years. He even alleged that The Pals had gone from being a group of youngsters who just wanted to have fun playing games to a business-minded clique who would not even talk to each other very often.
