Ilja Dragunov Facts

1. He was 5 years old when he migrated to Germany along with his mother and neither he nor his mother could speak the German language.
2. In order to support his family, Ilja Dragunov started working odd jobs at a very young age and before entering the world of wrestling, he had already worked at a pizza parlor and petrol station.
3. At the German Wrestling Federation (GWF) training school, he trained under the guidance of veteran Rick Baxxter and Axel Tischer (who has wrestled for WWE under the ring name Alexander Wolfe).
4. It was in the year 2012 that he made his in-ring debut and the following year, he joined wXw as a regular.
5. In 2019, Ilja Dragunov made his debut for WWE’s NXT UK brand on the May 15 episode (taped April 19) in which he defeated Jack Starz. He then went on to defeat Joseph Conners on the June 12 episode (taped April 20) and Ashton Smith on the July 10 episode (taped June 16) before he was defeated by Kassius Ohno on the August 15 episode (taped July 19).
6. He became the first Russian-born male wrestler to have ever competed in the WWE.
