Osmond was the ninth and youngest child of Olive May (1925–2004) and George Virl Osmond (1917–2007) and was born in Canoga Park, California. Virl, Tom, Alan, Wayne, Merrill, Jay, Donny, and Marie Osmond are his older brothers. He is also the only one of the nine Osmond siblings who was not born in Ogden, Utah, the family’s hometown. He had earlier undergone a stroke in 2004 as a result of a patent foramen ovale that had since been corrected.
