In 2017, he had scored at an average of .360 with 3 home runs in 23 games in an injury-ravaged season for the Hagerstown Suns in the Class A South Atlantic League. In 2018, he had played for the Hagerstown Suns (.373 in 16 games with 5 home runs and 24 RBIs), the Potomac Nationals (.371 in 15 games with 7 home runs and 18 RBIs) in the Class A-Advanced Carolina League, and the Harrisburg Senators (.323 in 8 games with 2 home runs and 10 RBIs) in the Class AA Eastern League before getting a call from the Washington Nationals for playing in the MLB.
