1. He got interested in hockey, soccer, rugby, , and cricket as early as primary school.
2. When he was younger, his dad never understood where Lungi disappeared every Saturday. One day, he followed him and found out he was watching children play cricket at a field in front of his house.
3. Growing up, Lungi was always extremely focused. He would tell his mom: “I don’t want you to cry mom, you are still going to be rich. I want you to sit down and enjoy your life.”
4. At college, he initially played rugby. When he met and was coached by Neil Johnson, a former Zimbabwe all-rounder cricketer, he stopped to focus entirely on cricket.
5. One of the things that inspired Lungi to pursue rugby initially was the story of the Springboks team that won the 1995 Rugby World Championship.
6. Lungi became great friends with a fellow cricketer and paceman, . He and Kagiso played together since the early days of school.
7. At the age of 15, he started playing cricket for the junior national team of South Africa. His parents could not afford cricket kits and batting equipment. For that reason, he decided to become a bowler.
