  2. It was his brother, Bob, who formed the rock band, The Replacements, which also comprised of musicians such as Paul Westerberg, Chris Mars, Slim Dunlap, and Steve Foley.

As a solo artist, Tommy Stinson released his debut studio album, Village Gorilla Head, on July 27, 2004, via Sanctuary Records and it included songs such as Not a Moment Too Soon, Someday, and Light of Day while also featuring artists like  and . The album received fairly positive reviews including the one by John D. Luerssen of Rolling Stone, who stated “Stinson’s first real solo disc is a stunning achievement” and “No matter that Village took five years to build, these are concise, consistently great songs that suddenly find Stinson in the same league with players like Ryan Adams and Josh Rouse.”
