Belleci has extensive experience in fire and explosives. His father taught him how to make a Molotov cocktail when he was a boy. Then, he set part of his house on fire by mistake with a handmade flamethrower. He was almost arrested when he was 19 for detonating a homemade pipe bomb outside his parents’ house in Seaside, California. After graduating from San Francisco State University’s film school in 1994, he began working at M5 Industries with Jamie Hyneman. Belleci started off as a stage manager, doing errands and cleaning the store, but soon progressed. He began working at Industrial Light and Magic a few years back (ILM). Belleci worked as a model designer, sculptor, and painter for ILM for eight years. In 2003, Belleci started working behind the scenes on Discovery Channel’s MythBusters, and in the second season, she was featured as a member of the show’s build team.

Fellow MythBusters Kari Byron and Grant Imahara also consider Belleci to be something of a daredevil, and as a result, he often conducts the more risky tricks while investigating a myth. The bike came dangerously close to colliding with his head.

He and Byron made a cameo appearance on the Discovery series Sons of Guns on October 3, 2012. They put some of the guns through their paces in the Red Jacket shop and watched as the workers re-tested a theory debunked by the Build Team: that a propane tank could collapse if hit by a bullet. Belleci, along with co-stars Byron and Imahara, revealed their departure from MythBusters on August 21, 2014.

With fellow MythBusters team members Kari Byron and Grant Imahara, he co-hosted Punkin Chunkin on the Science Channel from 2011 to 2013. In 2013, Belleci released the Blow It Up YouTube channel, in which he and other visitors use explosives to blow up ordinary things. Byron and Belleci hosted Thrill Factor, a new Travel Channel broadcast, in 2015.

In this episode, they travel the globe to see thrill rides and learn about science topics like the impact of G forces on breathing, heart rate, and other aspects. The Netflix show White Rabbit Project, which premiered on December 9, 2016, stars Belleci, Imahara, and Byron.
