One of the earliest achievements of Yohan Blake’s career is setting the record for the fastest time by a Jamaican junior sprinter to cover 100 m. He completed the 100 m race in 10.11 seconds. At the same event, he competed in the 4 × 100 meters relay and his team won Gold. At the 2009 Reebok Grand Prix, he came 3^rd in the 100-m race with a time of 9.93 seconds.

However, 2009 wasn’t all good for him as he received a three months ban for using 4-methyl-2-hexanamine. It’s worth noting here that the substance wasn’t on the list of World Anti-Doping Agency’s banned list, but it was very similar in structure to the banned substance tuaminoheptane. The Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission felt that athletes should be disciplined and as a result, they handed him the ban.

Yohan Blake won the Gold medal at the 2011 World Championships when he completed the 100 m race in 9.92 seconds.  He won the Silver medal in the 100 m race at the 2012 London Olympics.  At the same event, he also won the Silver medal in the 200 m race in 19.44 seconds, which is, in fact, the record for the fastest non-winning time in history, the fastest being Usain Bolt.

He has also competed in the 4×100 m race and his team won gold. He has also won the 100 m race at the 2019 Birmingham Diamond League. Throughout his career, he has received coaching from three different coaches. From 2009 to 2019, he was coached by Glen Mills following which Patrick Dawson became his coach. Since 2020, Gregory Little has coached him.
