Alejandro Sanz is a Spanish musician, singer, and composer, best known as the winner of numerous awards such as the Latin Grammy Awards, Grammy Awards, and winning a Latin Grammy for “Album of the Year”. Alejandro Sanz released his debut studio album titled Los Chulos Son Pa’ Cuidarlos in 1989 under Hispavox record label. The album consisted of 10 tracks – Los Chulos Son Pa’ Cuidarlos, Tomasa, Se Busca un Lío, El Apartamento, Doña Marina, Tom Sawyer, Señor Papa, Cuando Navegamos, Micaela, and Ajaulili, and featured a masterful mix of flamenco and techno music. The album was met with indifference since he was an unknown musician at the time, which forced him to move away from music temporarily and study business administration.

  2. He recalled he was somewhat a “group troubadour” among kids he grew up with, as he wanted to play the guitar and sing from an early age.
  3. Alejandro’s dad was a professional guitar player, which influenced him to start playing the guitar as well.
  4. His mom once broke his guitar because he was preventing her from sleeping due to his loud practice in the early morning hours.
  5. Alejandro wanted to become a professional flamenco performer, but quickly found out the rules were strict, and instructors would be cruel if you fell off the beat. For that reason, he decided to focus on his own music, but with flamenco influences.
  6. His original performer name was Alejandro Mango, which was Spanish for “Alexander the Great”, a well known Macedonian conqueror.
  7. Alejandro claimed that he practically carried his guitar anywhere he went since he was 15 years old.
  8. Alejandro’s best friend is Miguel Bosé, a well-known singer and actor.

His dad also died in 2005, which further broke him down. At the end of therapy, he felt rejuvenated and came back to performing regularly.
  15. In late 2007, he criticized the president of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez, for not being democratic, and tried to help the petition that aimed to prevent his re-election but failed.
