Arthur Melo is a Brazilian professional soccer player who first shone, as a midfielder, with Brazilian club Grêmio with whom he won the Copa do Brasil in 2016, the Copa Libertadores in 2017, and the Campeonato Gaúcho (top-tier league in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul) in 2018. His remarkable performances, at such a young age, soon drew attention from European clubs and he was signed up by Spanish giant FC Barcelona in 2018 and with them won the 2018-19 La Liga title. At the international level, Arthur had represented Brazil at the Under-17 level and with the senior national team, he was part of the squad that clinched the 2019 Copa América.

1. He made his Copa Libertadores (international tournament for South American clubs) debut in 2017 and in his very first match, he completed 40 passes with a 100% success rate. He was named ‘Man-of-the-Match’.
2. In November 2017, he was named ‘Man-of-the-Match’ in the 2nd leg of the final match of the Copa Libertadores, even though he featured in the match for only 50 of the 90 minutes and had to be substituted due to an injury.
3. In 2017, he was named as the ‘Campeonato Brasileiro Série A Best Newcomer’. The same year, he stood 3rd in the voting for ‘South American Footballer of the Year’.
