In her entire playing career, she has acquired countless noteworthy awards which she won from both singles and doubles tournaments. Aside from securing the no. 1 spot in singles, Barty’s name also reached the top 10 players in doubles which placed her at rank no. 5 in the overall ranking worldwide. From the looks of her playing history and winning streaks, it’s not a question as to how she has managed to maintain her reputation and how she became one of the best players in the world of tennis. As of July 2019, she has won 6 titles in singles and 10 in doubles including the Grand Slam singles title for the 2019 French Open and another Grand Slam doubles title for the 2018 US Open. Her interest in playing tennis started when she was 4 years old. Before she debuted as a professional, she already had a good reputation as an aspirant tennis player growing up and later had a promising junior career with an outstanding world junior ranking hitting the no.2 spot.

She started playing low-level tournaments and won her first title at the Grade 4 Australian International event just before she reached the age of 14. Barty’s early years were off to a great start as she honed and prepared herself to debut as a professional tennis player. More low-level tournaments had been added to her playing history until the end of 2010, completing a record of 24-2 in 5 events for 1 season while also winning a Grade 2 title in Thailand. In 2011, she made her first junior Grand Slam debut at the Australian Open during which she lost in an opening match against her opponent, Lauren Davis. In 2017, she won her first WTA title at the Malaysian Open which placed her at no. 17 in the world. Shortly after she had a winning year in both singles and doubles in 2017, she had another victory when she won her first Premier Mandatory and Grand Slam tournament titles in doubles in 2018, which turned out to be the same awards she won in singles in 2019. As for her style play, she’s an all-court player who performs a wide variety of shots with her “two-handed backhand” position. Apart from her successful career in tennis, Barty was also a former cricketer who took her time off from playing tennis and turned to cricket in 2014, which led her to play for Brisbane Heat in the Women’s Big Bag Leash (WBBL).

Personal Trainer

In an interview with Women’s Health in 2017, Barty shared what her usual daily training day looked like. She would do a 45-minute body preparation work every morning which would include either stretching or working out on her weaker areas. She and her team would do a movement session before they head out to practice for 2 hours. After practice, they’d hit the gym in the afternoon for conditioning usually after lunchtime and then a rehab session would be the next to be off their checklist. Their training workarounds were random on-court and gym sessions if in case they needed to do extra training on that particular day.

As for her diet, she specified that her training diet plan was a “little bit different” to the actual diet that she followed when she’s preparing for a match. Barty’s breakfast would have a coffee, either banana or Vegemite on toast with yogurt on regular days. After practice, she would usually have a piece of fruit followed by a “good lunch” to boost her up for the rest of the day. Her post-training meal only served an afternoon coffee, a piece of fruit, then followed by a simple dinner with 4 or 5 vegetables.
