- Barry Pepper grew up alongside his 2 older brothers. On a number of occasions, his brother, Doug, has worked as his assistant on film sets.
- After he turned 5 years old, his family members decided to navigate through the South Pacific islands sailing around in a homemade ship for around 5 years. The family traveled to places such as Fiji, Tahiti, and New Zealand.
