Dakota Kai is a New Zealander professional wrestler who joined the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc.) in 2015 and began competing under its NXT brand in 2017. She won the NXT Women’s Championship Invitational in 2018 and was named ‘Future Star of NXT’ in 2019. Before joining WWE, she had competed for Impact Pro Wrestling, Shimmer Women Athletes, Shine Wrestling, and Pro Wrestling Women’s Alliance. During her stint in Impact Pro Wrestling, she won the ‘IPW Women’s Championship’ thrice and at Shimmer Women Athletes, she had won the ‘Tag Team Championship’ once. While at Pro Wrestling Women’s Alliance, she won the ‘PWWA Interim Title’ Tournament, the ‘PWWA Interim Championship’, and the ‘PWWA Championship’ once each. She made her video game debut with WWE 2K19 and was featured again in WWE 2K20.

Dakota Kai Facts

1. In August 2012, she became the first female to win the Impact Pro Wrestling NZ Women’s Championship. In 2014, she became the first woman to earn a contract with the Japan-based Pro Wrestling Zero1 competition.
2. In April 2018, when she participated in the ‘WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royale’, she became the first New Zealander of either gender to have competed at WWE‘s iconic Wrestlemania annual event.
3. In 2016, she was ranked at number 21 in Pro Wrestling Illustrated magazine’s list of ‘Top 50 Female Wrestlers’.
4. In January 2019, she revealed that she had sustained a torn ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) which ruled her out of action for nearly 9 months. In September 2019, in her comeback match, she defeated Taynara Conti.
