1. He was brought up in Taipei.
2. Derek touched millions of hearts, after making headlines in 2015, for having donated 45% of his liver to his father who had been diagnosed with liver cancer the same year. Chang’s father was only given 3 months to live if he did not get a liver transfer. Derek was only 22 at the time when the surgery was conducted. According to his book, he also mentioned that his gallbladder was also removed during the procedure.
3. The liver transplant left him with a 10-cm long scar.
4. Derek is very health conscious and avoids greasy fare, deep-fried dishes, salty food, and sugary drinks. Besides that, Derek drinks 2 liters of water and prefers to eat only bland and light meals, mostly vegetarian.
5. Chang does not attend any late-night parties and gets into bed before midnight. He also follows a strict routine of getting 8 hours of rest.
