Hilton Valentine is an English musician, actor, and songwriter who is best known for having been the original guitarist in the rhythm and blues and rock band, The Animals. As a member of the band, he was a part of a couple of musical projects such as The Animals, Animal Tracks, and Animalisms. Later on, Hilton Valentine embarked on a career as a solo artist and worked on projects like All In Your Head, Skiffledog on Coburg Street, and Merry Skifflemas!.

- He was 13 years old when his mother bought him his first guitar which he initially self-taught himself with the help of a book named “Teach Yourself a Thousand Chords”.
- The 1950s skiffle craze had a great influence on the budding artist and during his high school years, he formed his own skiffle group called the Heppers. The group became decently popular in and around the neighborhood and was described as, “A young but promising skiffle group”.
- As a member of The Animals, Hilton Valentine released his debut album titled The Animals in November 1964 via Columbia Records and it consisted of songs such as The Girl Can’t Help It, The Story of Bo Diddley, I’ve Been Around, Bury My Body, and I’m in Love Again. Also, the album peaked at number #6 in the UK Albums Chart.
- The 3rd studio album by the Animals, Animalisms, was released in May 1966 via Decca Records and it includes a number of songs like One Monkey Don’t Stop No Show, Sweet Little Sixteen, You’re on My Mind, Clapping, Gin House Blues, I Put a Spell on You, and What Am I Living For. It was also ranked at number #4 in the UK Albums Chart.
- Hilton Valentine is remembered for the electric guitar arpeggio introduction to the Animals‘ 1964 signature song titled The House of the Rising Sun.
