Karen Chen is an American figure skater who is well-known and recognized for her achievements and contributions in the industry of figure skating. She won the C5 U.S. Classic bronze medal in 2016 and 2017, a 2015 CS Golden Spin of Zagreb bronze medal, and is a 2017 U.S. national champion. Before turning pro, she has had winning streaks earlier in her career as a figure skater and compiled 4 medals in a row which she won from the ISU Junior Grand Prix series.

- Despite landing a professional career in figure skating and amidst her growing fame in the industry she’s into, she has always included education into her list of priorities. As of January 2020, she doesn’t plan to take any gap years while she prepares herself for the 2022 Winter Olympics.
- She is mentored by the 1992 Olympic Champion who also happens to live in the same hometown as her.
- In November 2017, Chen published a memoir called Finding the Edge: My Life on the Ice, in which she talked about her battle against spondylolisthesis.
- During the 2019 International Women’s Day, Chen was chosen to be one of the 8 POWERGIRLs that serve as brand ambassadors for social fitness blogger ‘s activewear company named POPFLEX Active.
- She started learning how to skate in 2005.
- In 2011, she won gold on the national intermediate level and in 2012, she won another gold while competing as a novice. In 2013, she placed 4th after competing on the junior level of the 2013 U.S. Championships.
- Chen made her international debut at the 2013 Gardena Spring Trophy where she was a gold medalist on the novice level.
- During the 2013-14 season, she acquired her first ISU Junior Grand Prix (JGP) assignments.
- At the 2018 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, she finished at 3rd place in the short program and 4th in the free skate, leading her to win the overall bronze medal. With this, she was selected to represent the USA at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games held in Pyeongchang, South Korea, and the 2018 World Championships held in Milan, Italy. Chen finished at 11th place in the Olympics but she withdrew from Worlds and was replaced by 2nd alternate Mariah Bell after first alternate declined the invitation.
- Following a short break due to an injury, she made her comeback to competition and opened her season at the 2019 Philadelphia Summer International where she was a silver medalist behind training teammate You Young of South Korea.
- She placed 4th at the 2019 CS Autumn Classic International held in Oakville, Ontario, next to , , and Lim Eun-soo.
