1. Hyoyeon started taking formal dance lessons when she was in elementary school and learned hip-hop, jazz, and Latin dance at a small dance school located in her neighborhood.
2. In 1999, she joined Winners Dance School, South Korea’s one of the most popular dance schools and met Miss A’s  and the two formed a duo called Little Winners and performed dance routines at various places.
3. In 2000, her mother brought her to the SM Entertainment auditions just because she wanted to meet the South Korean boy band H.O.T.
4. She has learned dance from top choreographers such as Electric Boogaloos, Kim Hye-rang, Poppin Seen, Kwang Hoo (aka Crazy Monkey), Poppin DS, Kwon Seok-jin (aka Locking Khan) and Black Beat’s Shim Jae-won.
5. In 2004, she went to Bejing to study Chinese.
6. Before even making her official debut, she had already worked with famous artists such as  and BoA.
