Maître Gims is a Congolese singer, rapper, and music composer who shot to fame in 2013 with his maiden studio album Subliminal that sold more than a million copies in France, peaked at number 2 on the national charts and was certified ‘Diamond’ in France and ‘Gold’ in Belgium. His subsequent albums Mon Cœur Avait Raison (2015) and Ceinture Noire (2018) both peaked at number 1 on the French charts and earned ‘Diamond’ certification in the country. Several of his singles have also made it to the ‘Top 10’ of the French charts including J’me Tire (2013), Bella (2013), Est-Ce Que Tu M’aimes? (2015), Sapés Comme Jamais (2015), Caméléon (2017), Mi Gna (2018), and La Même (2018). Maître has also co-founded the record label, MMC (Monstre Marin Corporation), affiliated with Universal Music France. In 2013, he had launched a clothing line branded as Vortex.
