  1. Rhys’ family name is Evans but he changed it as a teenager to Ifans (like the Welsh pronunciation for Evans) to make it sound more difficult.
  2. He was a part of the Welsh psychedelic rock band Super Furry Animals, as their lead singer during their initial days, but he quit the band before they achieved fame.
  3. Rhys has admitted to being a self-obsessed fan of the Spider-Man comics. Luckily, he got to be a part of the 2012 reboot The Amazing Spider-Man where he played the film’s antagonist The Lizard.
  4. In 2008, he formed the psychedelic rock band Y Peth along with former Super Furry Animals band member Dafydd Leuan. The band released their debut album The Golden Mile in September 2008 and performed a series of live shows.
  5. He achieved his breakthrough role in the 1997 British hit, Twin Town, where he acted alongside his younger brother Llŷr Ifans.

  10. He was arrested on the charges of misdemeanor battery by the San Diego police during the 2011 Comic-Con. He had allegedly pushed a guard before going to speak on a guest panel. The charges were dropped in August 2011 due to lack of evidence.
