Rozonda Thomas Facts

1. Rozonda’s father had abandoned the family when she was a toddler and she was then raised by her single mother. She reunited with her estranged father in 1996, when she was 25 years old.
2. In 1991, when she had joined the all-girl group TLC, she was being chosen to replace one of the band’s founding members Crystal Jones. Since the group’s name was made by taking the first letter from the founding member’s first names, Rozonda was given the nickname Chilli so that the group could retain the name TLC.
3. In 2019, when the band was on a reunion tour, she had abruptly lost her voice and was instructed by doctors not to sing for a while. Consequently, some of their tour dates had to be rescheduled.
4. In 2013, she had appeared n*ked for an anti-circus campaign by PETA.
