1. During some of his initial childhood years, he lived with his family in the Magnolia public housing project. They later shifted to the Eastover section of New Orleans.
2. After Hurricane Katrina caused destruction in New Orleans in 2005, his family relocated to Richmond, Texas.
3. Kelly Oubre Jr. played for 3 Milne Boys Home (later known as New Orleans Recreation Development Commission) basketball teams during his time at Edward Hynes Elementary School.
4. He was named “Big 12 Newcomer of the Week” twice as a freshman at Kansas Jayhawks in 2014-15. In addition to that, he also received the All-Newcomer Team honors.
5. He declared for the NBA draft on April 1, 2015.
6. After being selected by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2015 NBA draft, Kelly Oubre Jr.’s draft rights were traded to the Washington Wizards.
7. In a match against New Orleans Pelicans, he scored a career-high 15 rebounds alongside 14 points and four blocks in a 139–132 overtime win for his side.
8. In March 2020, he underwent successful arthroscopic surgery for the torn meniscus in his right knee.
