1. She hails from a musical family with her father having been in punk bands all throughout her childhood, with a variety of instruments in her home always. She has affirmed that the one thing she ever did was music as there were no other options and that was simply her life. Her grandparents were music teachers as well, and she had started playing the piano and guitar at the age of 5. She had written her first songs as a 6th grader.

Upsahl has affirmed that despite “Upsahl” being her last name, she had decided to take it over as her moniker as she had released music for a while under her full name but had switched up her whole sound as she had entered into her 20s and started to go by her last name only so it was new. She has added that when her name is googled, has shown up instead, so she has preferred to go by her surname.
3. Upsahl has stated that Phoenix has been amazing with the music scene there extremely supportive. She has pointed out that even though the place is small, everyone there has always been collaborating and has been of sweet dispositions.
